Present were John Stack, Ralph Williams, William Peters, Joy Bear and a visitor, Gary Williams . After the minutes were read and approved, John Stack reported on a meeting with Frank Murphy on July 18. At this meeting the Supervisor agreed to appoint summer internes to make nine sets of duplicates of the recently completed first section of the Southold Town Inventory (see June, 1986 Landmark minutes for a description of the inventory and the Landmark Commission's plans for its use . ) Joy Bear had been instructed to prepare the receptacles which will hold the nine copies . These were ready on the night of the meeting, and were examined by the commissioners . Each of the nine boxes held 23 folders of the areas inventoried. Each folder had key numerals to make locating its contents easier. Also page numerals had been added to the original inventory to facilitate re-asseinbly as the files are used . (There are 1,300 pages in this section of the inventory. ) At this time the inventory is ready to be duplicated by the summer internes . Members of the commission will be on hand to help the internes get started without undue confusion. The four maps that locate the houses and sites in the inventory are too large to be duplicated by any North Fork facility. John Stack has arranged that Barbara Van Liew, who is in charge of the inventory, will take -her _ original maps to Smithtown Blueprint & Graphics, 14 Karl,Avenue, Smithtown, to have nine sets made. This will assure sharper prints for the maps . One set will be placed in each of the nine boxes, When all duplicating is finished, the sets will be be placed in Southold ''Town's five libraries, the assessor's office, the Historian's office, the Landmark Commission's file and to SPLIA. The original copy will be filed in Albany, N.Y. John Stack has a purchase order from Judith Terry for a register and for printing 300 parchment certificates . The register will hold the letters signed by home owners who agree to having their houses designated as landmarks . The certificates will be awarded to the owners of landmark houses . The Landmark Commission is changing its meeting date from the fourth Thursday of the month to the fourth Wednesday. Thur-,s.day, has proven to be a busy night, and our assigned quarters have been too small to hold the commission members and visitors . The next projects the Landmark Commission plans to undertake will include the writing of a book, "How Old Is Your House?" which will be illustrated with Southold homes and details, and also publishing a book of the many homes the Landmark Commission members have personally documented in detail, and photographed, at the request of the owners . The commission also plans to produce slide shows, with scripts, on such subjects as hovito recognize colonial and Georgian style houses in Southold Town, and other related feature films, which will serve to acquaint people with Southold Town's treasures . over
