On Tuesday, September 26th the Town Board is meeting with Kathie Ridley. Peter Deutsch and Jerri Woodhouse from Orient will also be attending. Update on model law - Kathie Ridley refers to a model law. Ralph feels that we should have a model to work from John Greene will give Ralph a copy of the New York State model law.. Kathleen Sorrell (from the Oregon Road group) said they are having a meeting on Saturday morning and asked John Greene to come. He will give them a copy of the Greenport law. They are very enthusiastic. John plans to go and listen to what they have to say and will urge them to sit down with Peter Deutsch. Waterfront Revitalization Plan - Herb Adler spoke to Bill Stark from the Department of State and he said that because of the Town's interest in the waterfront revitalization program, the Town will have to move if they want these funds. John Greene is meeting with Valerie Scopaz tomorrow. Valerie will be writing a letter on historic preservation in Southold. John will find out who she is writing this letter to. A motion i was made by Mel Phaff and seconded by Ralph Williams to review this letter and if the Commission finds it is not complete, they will write their own brief. All were in favor. The New York Council of the Humanities will give money for a lecture series. John Greene will contact the local historical societies to see if they are interested in taking part. Helen Keller Cottage - Mary Jablonski visited it. She felt that it probably was not salvageable. She was not very optimistic. John Greene will contact the Helen Keller Foundation to see if they have any information on this house. John Sabatino, the owner of 22260 Main Road, Orient would like the Commission to come out and see his home, as he wants to know how he can stabilize it. A meeting was set for Friday, September 29, 2000 at 3:00 p.m. John will also contact Tom McGuire of Oregon Road and see if the Commission could visit his house also on Friday. Bedell Cellars renovation on house and barn - John showed the Commission the plans for the renovation. Nancy Steelman of Samuels E Steelman gave John the plans and pictures. A motion was made by Ralph Williams and seconded by Mel Phaff to write a letter to the Building Department to issue a building permit for the renovtion. All were in favor. The next meeting of the Southold Landmark Preservation Commission is scheduled for Monday, October 23, 2000 at 4:00 p.m. Respectfully submitted oyce M. Wilkins Secretary
