They are: Option 1 - to create a town-wide CLG compliant law, as previously
envisaged which would apply to all SPLIA listed properties. Option 2 -
Create a town-wide law that might ultimately allow the town to gain CLG
status, but which would initially be restricted' to, specific historic districts.
:Designate the Orient Historic District as the pilot project. Option 3 -
Designate the Orient Historic District as a protected area within Southold
Town. Develop specific laws for the historic district, identifying Orient as
a pilot project.
444-A update - this was sent to the Code Committee a few months ago but
the Commission has not heard back from them.

Whitaker property barn - Mary Jablonski said there is a good chance
that a grant could be received to restore the barn and also money
for documentation. Ralph Williams will work with Jim McMahon about
the proposal.
Gary Laube, who bought the "Old Doctor's House" and Warren, his
architect spoke to the Commission about the plans for restoring this
house. They said that it looks like it was built in the 1750's. It
has an 18th century fireplace in it. He is planning to save as much of it
as possible.
