The meeting started at 7:35 p.m. . Valerie Marvin was excused. 2. A motion was made by Ralph Williams and seconded by Bob Kassner to accept the Minutes of the April 27, 1995 meeting. All were in favor. The next meeting of the commission is scheduled for Thursday, June 15, 1995 at 7:30 p.m. 3. Status of Recruiting. To date, we have not received any resumes. The members will try to solicit some candidates for the vacancy on the commission and bring the names to the next meeting. 4. 1995 Awards Status and Presentation will take place on Tuesday, May 30, 1995 at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall before the regular Town Board meeting. Approximately 20 minutes will be allotted for these present- ations. Members of the commission will present the awards. 5. Southold Town Code Change- 56.7. Cliff Benfield met with the Town Attorney, Laury Dowd to discuss possible changes in the Town Code re: Landmark Preservation. She will draft the changes and it will be presented to the Town Board at their next meeting. 6. "Carrots vs. Sticks" - It was suggested that the commission come up with a list of the advantages and benefits of being listed on the National, State or Town lists. Several factors to be considered are: a. Facade easements b. Forgiveness of building permits c. Forgiveness of increased assessment on improved properties 7. Educational Program Status - Bob Kassner drafted a letter that could be sent to different groups within the Town regarding the commission's updated educational program. r -2- 8. -8. Publicity for May Awards and Landmark Designation. A news release was made by John Stack re: the awards to be made at the Town Board meeting on Tuesday, May 30th at 7:30 p.m. 9. 1995 Landmark Status Possibilities. The commission still has not heard back from Mayor Kapell. Members discussed several other houses such as that of Neb Brashich, two houses in East Marion and a house on Marratooka La. in Mattituck. 10. A motion was made by Bob Bayley and seconded by Ralph Williams to adjourn the meeting at 8:55 p.m. All were in favor. Respectfully submitted, Joyce M. Wilkins Secretary
