The meeting started at 7:30 p.m. Present were: Cliff Benfield, Ralph Williams, Bob Kassner, Valerie Marvin and Toni Boyd. Ralph gave a report on John Stack's condition. After surgery, he wasn't doing too well but is improving. 2. The next meeting of the commission is scheduled for Tuesday, September 19, 1995 at 7:30 p.m. 3. A motion was made by Ralph Williams and seconded by Bob Kassner to approve the Minutes of July 11, 1995 meeting. All were in favor. 4. Young, Gerlin Coyle landmark - On Wednesday, August 2nd Cliff Benfield and Ralph Williams interviewed the Sahner sisters. Each sister brought a written rembrance. It was a very nice oral interview. Cliff will write a letter to the Town Board asking that they reissue a landmark certificate to Young, Gerlin Coyle House. 5. Correspondence - Village of Greenport - Cliff received a letter from Lorna M. Catus, Village Clerk/Treasurer and a copy of an action taken by the Village of Greenport Board of Trustees, which is as follows: At a regular meeting of the Village of Greenport Board of Trustees a motion was made by Trustee John A. Costello and seconded by Trustee Barbara E. Heaney to authorize the Southold Town Landmark Preservation Committee to recognize historic properties in the Village with plaques, which will be presented jointly by the Town and the Village. Motion carried. 6. Missing milestones - Ralph Williams said that the marker or stone at Gertrude Iglesias' house is black and of a different width than the Ben Franklin milestones. -2- 7. Brecknock Hall - Mrs. Ghorel has' not been able to reach the owner. Valerie Marvin will try to get.•the answers to some of the questions. 8. Planning Board's Report to Supervisor - It didn't reflect any of the commission's activities. 9. Cutchogue Diner - Cliff stopped in the diner. A Mr. Toohey is the owner. The diner is a 1941 pullman. Mr. Toohey ,t wants to preserve it. Cliff will give him an application. 10. Report on markers' mold - Cliff showed the commission the proposed artist's proof of the mold. It is a _one piece mold. After a lengthy discussion, a few changes were suggested. 11 . Report on S.P.L. I.A. files - Bob Kassner reported that the intern working on the files is doing a great job. 12. Capital Expenditures - Cliff will check with John Cushman in the accounting office. 13. "Carrots" - The commission discussed possible incentives. Valerie__ Marvin will call other ,towns.: to see if they offer any incentives -to landmark designated properties. 14.
