November 28, 1995
1 . The meeting started at 7:30 p.m. Present were: Cliff Benfield,
John Stack, Ralph Williams, Toni Boyd, Bob Bayley and Bill Peters.
2. A motion was made by Ralph Williams and seconded by Toni Boyd
to approve the Minutes of October 17, 1995.
3. The next meeting of the Commission is scheduled for Tuesday,
January 9, 1996 at 7:30 p.m.
4. Landmark mold status' - Cliff brought in the pattern and showed it
to the members. Ralph will make the mold. The letters and medallion
will be red and the rest will be gold.
5. Inspection reports -
a. Aansted House - It is scheduled for demolition any day.
The report on the Aansted house will be put in the
landmark files.
b. Simon House - Cliff will make arrangements for the commission
to inspect the house.
c. Scopaz House - a date and time will have to be made for a
visit to this house. Bob Kassner will make the arrangements.

6. Follow-up -
a. Brecknock Hall - The owners are not interested in
landmark status as per Valerie Marvin.
b. Cutchogue Diner - This is a 1941 Pullman Company
production. It has not been altered. A field inspection
should be made by the commission and then a recommendation
will be made to the Town Board to approve it for landmark
status. The inspection is set for Thursday, December 7th
at 10 a.m.
c. Plum Island,- No.decision asl 'yet,. ',':The:y`-ere still interested.
7. Budget - The budget for 1996 is $4825.00.
8. New Business
a. A letter was received from Jim Grathwohl. He owns the
John Booth house on Oaklawn Avenue, across from the
tennis courts in Southold. He plans to restore the house.
Mr. Grathwohl would like to have the building put on the
local landmark list. Bob Bayley has looked at the house
and said it is quite interesting inside. Mr. Grathwohl would
like the commission to look at the house and come"up with
some suggestions on how and where certain features could be
placed back. Arrangements will be made with Bob to inspect
the house on Thursday, December 14th at 10.ia.m.
b. Bill Peters told the commission that the Cutchogue Library
is converting the old choir loft into a local history room
and needs a letter from the commission.
c. Also, the historical society wants to replace the windows in the
old house on the green in Cutchogue. They would like the
commission's help in researching the design of these windows,
a 17th century design. They would also like to know what
buildings to research and who to contact. In addition, they
are restoring the header with oak rather than steel beams.
A motion was made by Ralph Williams and seconded by Bob Bayley to
adjourn the meeting at 8:40 p.m.
