House and Doug Gregg to the commission. They are interested in organizing
a group for the preservation of the Plum Island Lighthouse. When created,
this organization will be knows as "Friends of Plum Island Lighthouse."
Doug Gregg showed pictures of the lighthouse to the members. John Stack
had noted that getting on the Southold Town Landmark Registry would be a
lot faster than the State or Federal registries. Carol House told the
commission that there are certain regulations that must be met, as this
property is owned by the U.S Department of Agriculture. At this time you
cannot go into the lighthouse, as there is lead and asbestos
contamination. Jim House told the commission that if the lighthouse is to
be preserved, it is time to get going. Carol House extended an invitation
for the commission to come to Plum Island, at which time they will get a
tour of the island and get to look at the lighthouse.
9. Critique of Moore House - Bob Bayley has done a report and
drawing on this house. Bob questioned the large cellar in the house.
Ralph felt there were other houses of that vintage that had large cellars
