1 . The meeting started at 7:30 p.m. Present were: Cliff Benfield
John Stack, Ralph Williams, Toni Boyd and Valerie Marvin.
2. The Minutes of the April 16, 1996 were accepted as read.
3. The next meeting of the commission is scheduled for Tuesday,
June 11, 1996 at 7:30 p.m.
4. Status of landmark plaques - 55 plaques have been ordered. They
are solid bronze 3/8" thick with Town Seal and Landmark Designation.
They will be ready within two weeks.
5. Recruitment progress - there has been no word on the receipt of
any resume's as yet for t-he replacement of Bob Bayley on the
commission.
6. Plum Island lighthouse_' - Cliff has tried to reach Dr. Alphonso Torres,
Acting Director but to no avail. Cliff sent a letter and a partially
completed application to Dr. Carol House and thanked her for her
interest in preserving this historic public property.
7. Cliff spoke to the intern, Ms. Jones. She will be starting shortly.
She will be invited to the presentations on May 28th.
8. The commission reviewed the write-ups on the Cutchogue Diner and
the "Commoners" property. Several changes were made and the final
copies will be ready in time for the presentation.
9. Special award nominations - some people are working on their houses
but they are not, as yet, completed.
10. Inspection Reports - there were no reports.

11 . A motion was made by Valerie_ .'Marvin and seconded by Ralph
Williams to adjourn the meeting at 8:45 p.m. All were in favor.
