SOUTHOLD TOWN
LANDMARK PRESERVATION COMMISSION JUL 2 0 1994
Town Clerk Southold
Landmark Minutes
July 19, 1994
1. The meeting started at 7:30. Members present were: Cliff Benfield, John Page,Ralph Williams,
Bob Kassner and John Stack. Valerie Marvin was required to be in Greenport. Bob Bayley in on
vacation-in Montana.
2. The June 21 st minutes were reviewed and accepted.
3. The agenda item regarding possible tax incentives was tabled until the next meeting. All efforts
will be made to a schedule that will not conflict with Greenport Village. Tuesday August 9th
seems to be our best bet at this time.
4. We discussed the makeup of a brochure to tell about Southold and what the Landmark Com-
mission is and'does. We hope to get help on this from Edgar Marvin when he returns from Aus-
tralia. We will pursue ways to arrange for the printing in our budget.
5. Our next meeting will be held August 9 at 7.30 PM.
New Business.
A. The suggested item, that we explore the preparation of Medallions for landmark houses
as well as preservation award houses was tabled to allow input from Bob Bayley when he returns
from Montana. The thought was for an emblem of the town logo that would state Southold Town
Landmark Award around the Pound mark. Designs and costs will be explored so-that a plan can
be submitted before budget time.
B. The investigation of ways to offer tax incentives for landmark houses was placed on the
agenda for August.
C. A possible request from the NY State Dental Assn. for a program was discussed. We
feel we can meet their needs and will await their decision and date..
D. We are anticipating a request to review the Breitstadt House on Pine neck. When the
family gets here from Ohio they will arrange a date.
Respectfully submitted;
John A. Stack, Chairman
