SOUTHOLD TOWN
LANDMARK PRESERVATION COMMISSION
Landmark Minutes
August 9, 1994
1. The meeting started at 7:30. Members present were: Cliff Benfield, Valerie Marvin John Page,
Ralph Williams, and John Stack. Bob Bayley and Bob Ka.ssner were on vacation.
2. The July 19th minutes were reviewed and accepted.
3. The agenda item regarding possible tax incentives was discussed and our counsel Valerie in-
formed us that there is no provision in the law for a municipal authority of our size to enact such a
law..
4. We discussed the makeup of a brochure to tell about Southold and what the Landmark Com-
mission is and does. We have an appointment with Edgar Marvin Saturday Aug. 13 at 4 PM. We
hope to reach the point where we will be able to make a reliable estimate for the 95 budget.
5. Our budget requirements were discussed. It was decided that John will make an appointment
with the supervisor to discuss our needs and to see if any of our unspent monies can be encum-
bered toward the next years requirements.
6. Our correspondence was distributed. The SPLIA Conference on New Funding will be referred
to Bob Bayley.
7.Cliff Benfield had some interesting information regarding bronze medallions for Landmark Reg-
ister Houses. If bought in a group of 50, a nine inch round copy of the Town Seal would cost $90
each. We hope to ask the recipients to share the cost. This would require a $4500 expenditure.
Smaller orders would increase the unit price.
8. Our next meeting will be held Wednesday Sept. 28th at 7:30 PM.
pectfully submitted,
ohn A. Stack, Chairman
