LANDMARK PRESERVATION COMMISSION
Landmark Minutes ,
April 15 1993
1. The meeting started at 7:30. Members present were Bob Bayley, Bob Kassner, Bill Peters and
John Stack. Valarie Marvin, Ralph Williams and Harry Fagan were excused.
2. Last months minutes were reviewed and accepted.
3. Bob Bayley led the discussion on the Preservation Award. The results were:
A. A format for the certificate was finalized.
B. Three awards were agreed upon.
C. A citation will be written and awarded with the certificate.
D. We will try to set a date with the Town Board for the 18th of May.
4. The following tasks were assigned:
A. Bob Bayley will contact Ed Dart for information on his houses.
B. Bob Kassner will find a source of parchment type paper for the citations.
C. Bill Peters will contact Cliff Benfield for information on the Lighthouse.
D. John Stack will:
1. Contact Jim Pimm re his house.
2. Contact the two newspapers.
3. Check the date with the Town Clerk.
5. Valarie Marvin's discussion of the definition changes was postponed until the May meeting.
When all agree on the changes, they will be submitted to the Town Board for their approval.
5. Ralph Williams will contact Mr. Mancini's. A date will have to be set. When this is done Ralph
will call members.
6. The request of Mr. Nathan B. Seidman that his house in Orient be considered for Register will
be examined on Sunday April 17th.
7. Ralph sent word that The Rural New York Historic Preservation Grant Program.Does not
seem to be an efficient use of our efforts at this time. The material was sent to Valarie Scopaz for
info re the New Suffolk Post Office fire.
8. C. B Moore's speech, Celebration of the 250th Anniversary of the formation,of the
Town and the Church of Southold, L.I. August 271990, will be discussed at the May
Meeting.
9. A work session has been set for April 21st at 11:30. We will meet in Bob Kassner's office and
see what space he has been able to find.
10. Bill, Ralph and John will meet with the Southold Historical Society on April 21st at 1;30.
13. Our next meeting is scheduled for May 20 1993 at 7:30 PM
