Jim Grathwohl spoke to the Commission and said that we can expect a grant, possibly at the end of April, for the Whitaker House. Supervisor Horton said that he hoped to get a better response from the Code Committee regarding a law on historic preservation. John explained to Supervisor Horton what the Landmark Preservation commission has been doing over the past years. Supervisor Horton said that Bill Moore should show the Town Board the law he has been working on and turn it over to John Romanelli and the Code Committee. The Supervisor believes that historic preservation is important to the Town. He also felt that the law would have to be sensitive to people who didn't have the means for restoring their homes. Jim Grathwohl said that businesses in the historic districts would get tax credits for restoring their buildings. Supervisor Horton suggested that the Commission invite John Romanelli to come to our next meeting. He also felt that the Commission should get on the agenda for a Town Board work session and give the Town and update. Mel suggested that members of the Commission should do a presentation for the Town Board. The Commission discussed two requests for renovations. Kathy Tazwell Smith wants to do a renovation to her barn. The Commission will approve this. The Commission also reviewed the plans for Quintessentials Bed and Breakfast in East Marion.
