LANDMARK PRESERVATION COMMISSION MEETING
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 20,2002
MINUTES
Present were: Herb Adler,Peg Murphy,Mel Phaff, John Stack, Ron Rossi, Sal
Saporito and Erin Bauers reporter for the Traveler Watchman.
The Commission received an application from Joseph Maduca. All were in favor
of recommending to the Town Board that his house be a Southold Town
designated landmark.
There is a meeting next week of the Whitaker House Committee. Ron Rossi gave
the Commission some background on the Whitaker House. The barn will
possibly be moved to the Southold Historical Society property.
Manning residence in New Suffolk—it is on the SPLIA list—work was done on
this 30 years ago and the owner is trying to get a certificate of occupancy. A
small addition was added in the back.
Miller residence—Herb showed the Commission the plans on the part demolition
and part reconstruction. This house'is located two blocks east of the post office at
Kayleigh Court and Main Road in East Marion. Herb will ask them for further
information on the east side of the building.
Herb will write a reply to Betty Neville's letter regarding the SPLIA listing, as the
Commission felt that it undermines their credibility.

The Commission will start work on a new brochure to help prospective restorers.
The meetings of the Landmark Preservation Commission will now be on
Mondays. The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 28, 2002 at 4:00
p.m.
With no further business to be conducted the meeting was adjourned at 5:30 p.m.
