July 23, 1996. So far 8 of the 13 recipients have responded

Kassner and seconded by Ralph Williams to have Barbara Jones
take care of publicity until she leaves in September. All were

5. Jeremiah Vail House Inspection - Ralph and John did a measure-
ment of the outside of the house. Ralph suggested that Mr.
Haesche be contacted to see if the commission could revisit the
house so that drawings could be done of the inside, both the
upstairs and downstairs. It is a very interesting house and
certainly deserves recognition as a landmark. A motion was
made by Ralph Williams and seconded by John Stack that the
commission recommend to the Town Board that the Jeremiah Vail
House be designated a landmark. All were in favor. Mr. Haesche
could receive the plaque now and be given the certificate in May
at the award ceremonies.

going through the files and making up a landmark directory.
It is the first time all of the information will be in one place.
Barbara will add a bibliography at the end of the directory.
7. Fort Corchaug - there was a meeting this morning at Ronnie
Wacker's to discuss the rescue of Fort Corchaug. Tim Caufield

people to support the current plan. The Peconic Land Trust
would like to fins) a conservation-minded person to buy lot 10.
Also, different committees of the Town should get together to
form some management program for the property. The com-
mission disucssed possible grants. Barbara Jones will make
some calls regarding grants. Bob suggested she contact Jim
McMahon also. The commission will try to meet with Melissa
Spiro, who will be able to answer any questions regarding the
development of the Fort Corchaug property.

status: age alone, architectural distinction and historic site
or historic person.
