LANDMARK PRESERVATION COMMISSION
LANDMARK PRESERVATION COMMISSION MEETING
APRIL 22, 1998
MINUTES ,
Present were: John Greene, John Stack, Ralph Williams, Bob Kassner,
John Cronin, Herb Adler, Antonia Booth and Tom Samuels, Jr.
Whitaker House - When the commission found out that the Town was under
contract to buy the property and tear down the house, the commission had
an emergency meeting last week with Supervisor Cochran and the engineer
for the Town. At this time no decisions have been made. The commission
would like to have the historic part of the house unchanged. It is a 1750's
house. Antonia Booth doesn't want to see any changes made to the
Whitaker house. Tom Samuels feels it should be restored. He also feels
the house should not be moved. He also understands the need for compromise.
John Cronin felt there is a lot of vagueness in the needs of the Town.
A motion was made by Ralph Williams and seconded by John Cronin to accept
the Minutes of the March 25, 1998 meeting. All were in favor.
Cosden District - The commission did not receive any response to the letter
sent re: the Cosden District. John Greene, received two inquiry calls.
Asip application - To date, nothing has been received from the Asips.

Protection of Historic Properties. A copy of the law was sent to the
Zoning Board of Appeals. The commission hopes the ZBA will use the
commission's input.

of the course to the commission. The course is scheduled for four
Mondays at the Southold, Library. It will begin on July 27th and will
