FRIDAY, OCTOBER 22, 1999
MINUTES
Present were: John Greene, Gordon Moore, Ralph Williams, John Stack,
Herb Adler, Mary Jablonski, Mel Phaff and Dick Boardman.
The Minutes of the September 22, 1999 meeting were accepted as read.
A motion was made by Herb Adler and seconded by Gordon Moore to
recommend to the Town Board that the Mattituck Historical Society
Building be designated as a landmark. All were in favor.
Proposed Code Revision - Herb Adler has been in contact with the
Assistant Town Attorney, Mary Wilson. A little more information is
needed.
On Friday, October 15th the Commission inspected Bob Olsson's house
on Main Bayview Road in Southold. The Commission is awaiting the
write-up on the house.
Shinn-Page Barn Restoration - Mary Jablonski was in contact with the
owners. She will try to help them through the process. She will
continue to be in touch with them.
Orient CLG Program - Dick Boardman worked on drafting a letter to
be sent to the property owners in Orient. The Commission reviewed
the letter and felt it should be more personalized. Several members
will work with Dick on drafting a letter before the next meeting so
that the members will be able to review it.
Ralph Williams worked on drafting questions to be put in a pamphlet.
Ralph, John Green, Gordon and Dick will work together to draft '
questions for the pamphlet before the next meeting for the Commission
to review.

Mel Phaff presented his study on Certified Local Government. He gave
a synopsis of a tax incentive law in Ithaca, New York. This law is now
in effect in Southampton.
Deborah Winsor spoke to the Commission. She is working on finishing
her thesis on Historic Preservation. She will be using Southold Town
as a pilot for her thesis. She will try to find out about CLG in other
areas.
Some of the agenda was tabled. The next meeting for the Commission is
scheduled for Monday, November 22, 1999 at 4:00 p.m.
With no further business to be discussed, the meeting was adjourned at
6:10. p.m.
