Southold, New York 1'1971 SOUTHOLD TOWN LANDMARK PRESERVATION COMMISSION LANDMARK PRESERVATION COMMISSION MEETING JANUARY 18, 2000 AT 4:00 P.M. MINUTES Present were: John Greene, John Stack, Ralph Williams, Mel Phaff, Gordon Moore, Mary Jablonski and Chris Baiz. Chris_ Baiz, a representative of S.O.S. (Save Open Space) ,spoke to the Commission. The three objectives of S.O.S. is: (1) Saving farmland and open space. (2) Protect the hamlet centers. (3) Pro- tection against urban sprawl. S.O.S. supports CLC and would like to assist the Landmark Preservation Commission in any way they can. , The Commission discussed the possibility of sending out a joint mailing with S.O.S. Gordon will work on drafting a letter and John Greene will work on the brochure. A motion was made by Ralph Williams and seconded by Mary Jablonski to work together with ,S.O.&. . All were in favor. Hopefully, it could be done in the next few weeks. Ralph attended a meeting of property owners in Orient. Present were: Peter Deutsch, John Woodhouse, Mary Lee Shanahan and Joan Gustayson. Ralph and ,Joan were going to compare lists of property owners. Peter Deutsch was unhappy with what was going, on, on Village Lane. He was working on talking to the people on Village Lane., He separated the groups of property owners into 4 categories--the old folks--the working people--summer persons--and the artists. Ralph felt that the Commission 2- should encourage him. John Greene suggested the Commission should contact other groups around town and talk to there about CLG. Ael Phaff will talk to neighbors in his -'area about CLG. It wa's also suggested that the Love Lane Association be contacted. With no further business to be conducted, the meeting was adjourned at 5:30 p.m. espectfully submitted yce M.
