HomeMy WebLinkAbout07/13/2000 4401g�FFO(,��, O =� Fax(516)765-1823 y Z Town Hall,53095 Main Road Telephone(516)765-1800 O P.O.Box 1179 'f'fij�01 Q� Southold,New York 11971 SOUTHOLD TOWN LANDMARK PRESERVATION COMMISSION LANDMARK PRESERVATION COMMISSION MEETING THURSDAY, JULY 13, 2008@ 4:00 p.m. MINUTES Present were: John Greene, John Stack, Ralph Williams, Herb Adler, Diane Ravitch, Supervisor Cochran, Ron Rossi, Peter Deutsch, Jeri Woodhouse, Bob Wilhelm, Alice Hussie and Charles Sanders Ron Rossi, the new owner of the Horton House on the Main Road in Southold, showed the Commission pictures of the present condition of " the house. He also explained what he wants to do and gave the " Commission a list of his proposals for renovation. On the exterior he would like to: 1 . Remove and rebuild the back porch. 2. Replace the fascia, as necessary. 3. Replace shingles, as necessary. 4. Update external electric service. 5. Replace rain gutter system and rebuild soffits. 6. Replace shutters. <: 7. Prep and paint building and trim, light grey with white trim, federal blue shutters and door. 8. Replace front entryway step. 9. Remove stucco from foundation and repoint and repair existing brick foundation. 10. Replace existing roof with cedar or composite of darker color. -2- He plans to keep it as close to the old building as possible. He has gutted the interior of the building and the old plumbing and heating was taken out. He will make a list of the things he will be doing on the interior of the building. It was suggested that when he has the building Kermit application finished, he should send a copy to John Greene and John will then send a letter to the Building Department. Peter Deutsch and Jeri woodhouse brought materials from the present- ation they gave in Orient. It was a visual of Village Lane. They are planning to have another informational meeting in August. The Commission agreed to fund another meeting. Ralph Williams is working on changes in the law and asked that Peter Deutsch and Jeri Woodhouse give him a list of things that they are interested in putting into this law. Jean Cochran said she has put on for discussion at the next Town Board meeting, their presentation. The Commision commended Ms. Woodhouse and Mr. Deutsch for their efforts. Historic Building Inventory - most of the S.P.L. I.A. files for Peconic, Cutchogue, Mattituck, Laurel and part of Orient have been sent out. The Town Board is going to Fishers Island on August 9, 2000. There are a surprising number of residences that are historic. Members of the Commission are welcome to go to Fishers Island. Plum Island - it was suggested that some of the members of the Commission could go there and inventory some of the buildings. Robins Island - there are seven buildings on the S.P.L.I.A. list. ;i Budget - the budget for 2001 has to be in by August 2nd. Diane Ravitch will help write applications to any agencies where grants are available. The next meeting of the Land Preservation Commission is scheduled for Thursday, August 24, 2000 at 4:00 p.m. The meeting was adjourned at 5:50 p.m . R pectfully submitted, oyce XM. Wilkins Secretary
