Box 1179 (516) 765-1801 y� a�� Southold, New York 11971 SOUTHOLD TOWN LANDMARK PRESERVATION COMMISSION "Irk ff LANDMARK PRESERVATION COMMISSION MEETING AUGUST 24, 1999 MINUTES Present were: John Green, Herb Adler, Gordon Moore, Ralph Williams and John Stack. The Commission reviewed the Robert Olsson application. This house is, located on Main Bayview Road in Southold. Mr. Olsson will be coming to Southold sometime in October and the Commission will meet with him and inspect his house. John Greene went over -the budget with the members for the coming year. The updating of the SPLIA inventory would be at least $45,000 over 3 years. Also meetings would be increased to $1000.00, as the Commission felt it .was important for someone to attend the National meeting. Mattituck Historical Society have filed an application with the Commission. John Greene has called and left messages several times and they have never called back. John will try again to see if the Commission could make an inspection. Janet Odin called John Greene. She has an old barn that has to be taken down, as it is a hazard. John will call her and set up a meeting after Labor Day. The owners of the Breezy Shores compound would like to have the property landmarked. It is a row of bungalows built in the 1920's. They wouldl like the Commission to look to see if it is landmarkable, possibly to make this an historic district. It is designed as a seashore community. John will contact the owners. -2- The Commission is very anxious to fill the three vacancies on the Commission. There are several qualified applicants. A letter will be sent to the Town _Board. Orient strategy - will be tabled for now. Response to Mary Wilson's memo - will be tabled for now. Orient and the C. L.G. - John Green has given a number of present- ations out there. The people seem to have many concerns. Herb has been working on lists of- owners in the historic districts. It was suggested that a pamphlet be put together tailored to each historic district so that the standard questions can be answered. Ralph will help work on the brochure. The next meeting of the Commission is scheduled for Wednesday, September 22, 1999 at 4:00 p.m. With no further business to be conducted, the meeting was adjourned at 5:30 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Joyce M.
