January 17, 2006 Meeting Minutes

Time: 3:00 PM
Location: Conference Room, Town Hall Southold, NY
Attendees: Jim Grathwohl, Lary Jungblut, Peg Murphy, Mel Phaff and Ron
Rossi. Jim Garretson and Barbara Schnitzler also attended Commission
Nominees.
The December minutes were approved.
Jim announced that Scott Russell would be the Town Board liaison for 2006
and that the Town Board will be confirming the nominations of Jim Garretson
and Barbara Schnitzler at a future Town Board meeting.
For the 2006 year, Jim Grathwohl will remain the Chairman, Peg Murphy the
Vice-Chair, and Lary Jungblut the Secretary. Jim Grathwohl will be the liai-
son to the Architectural Review Committee with Mel and Larry as back-ups.
Ron and Mel will remain as the Technical Committee with Peg and Jim Gar-
retson on the Communications Committee.
Jim Grathwohl reviewed the highlights of the Commission's 2005 activities
and proposed goals and objectives for 2006. These include, but not limited to,
items such as project-based budget, update of register and pamphlets, appli-
cation for CLG, Communications plan, pursuit of local and state tax benefits,
tourism brochure, liaison with local historical societies, and outreach pro-
grams. The commissioners were asked to prioritize the list of 2006 goals and
objectives.
Jim also announced that the latest issue of Early American Life (EAL) had an
article on Gary Laube's "Doctor's House."
Luc Schlager will be updating the brochure on the "Building Permit Process"
as soon as his computer is repaired.
The commission authorized the purchase of the Secretary of Interior's Stan-
dards for National Register Houses for$17.
The regular 2006 meeting schedule will be at 3 PM on the third Tuesday of
the month.
The next meeting is scheduled for 3 PM on Tuesday, February 21, 2006.
