I. Call to Order/Greetings
11. Approval of Minutes–November 2007 Meeting
III. Chairman's Comments
A. Purchase/Preservation of New Suffolk Shipyard/Holland Submarine site in New Suffolk
completed today (Dec. 18).We have offered to assist in obtaining designation as
National Historic Site. (Barbara to coordinate as member of the New Suffolk Waterfront
Committee.)
B.Attended State Office of Historic Preservation workshop on Nov.2SP in Cold Spring
Harbor to discuss and get input on NYS Historic Preservation Plan for 2007 to 2011.
C. Suggest rotating Chairman's position in 2008
IV. Old Business
A. Letter sent to Orient landmark owners requesting "de-land marking"from Orient
National Historic District advising them of the process. (See attached response from Mark
Getches)
B. Progress on Fishers Island Historic District application–Barbara Schnitzler/Jim
Grathwohl
C Review draft of Historic Preservation Commission Handbook. Discuss review process,
production and distribution (Architects, builders, libraries, etc.) - Barbara Schnitzler/Jim
Grathwohl
D. Purchase of additional plaques, pamphlets and office supplies deferred to after
Z—December 31 by Town BoPB–D-
E.Approved 2008 budget Discuss FY2007 accomplishments
F. Progress on web site- Damon
G. Historic Property Tax Exemption Letter and Town Board hearing today at 4:30 p.m.
Discuss letter to school districts–Larry Jungblut
H. Larry, Ron, Doug and Jim met with committee exploring new Historic District in East
Marion on Nov. 26 at Peconic Landing–Larry Jungblut/Jim Grathwohl
I. Kieran Corcoran's request for advice on monopole at Cedar Beach (See Larry
Jungblut's e-mail);was advised no historically significant landmark in area being
considered
V. New Business
A. Discuss new projects for 2008, i.e. awards program, lectures, speaker's bureau,
additional road side markers, updated landmarks booklet, etc. Establish committee and
time line for each approved project.
B. Discuss visiting sites in Town van on same day as hearing (1 to 2:30 p.m.?)
C. Review/Discuss today's hearings–Damon Rallis
VI. Hearings
3:00 p.m.–McCrary Garage Conversion to Studio-Gordon Price
3:30 p.m.–Brecknock Hall–Alice Hussie/Don Smith
4:30 p.m.-Town Board Hearing on Law for Tax Exemptions on Local Landmarks
