1. Call to Order/Greetings
II. Approval of Minutes—August 2007 Meeting
Ill. Chairman's Comments
A. Continuing communications with State Highway Dept on restoring Ben
Franklin mile markers along State Route 25.Will draft letter from Scott Russell
supporting project.
B. Purchase/Preservation of New Suffolk Shipyard/Holland Submarine site in
New Suffolk will be completed this week, pending environmental surveys.We
should offer to assist in obtaining designation as National Historic Site. (Barbara
to coordinate as member of the New Suffolk Waterfront Committee.)
IV. Old Business
A. Continued feedback and follow-up from January 25 informational meeting:
• Redraft of letter and process (meeting, etc.)to advise those requesting
"de-landmarking"from Orient National Historic District. See Kieran's
recommended wording in revised letter responding to "de-
landmarking" requests(attached).
• Responses to other inquiries i.e. letters, e-mails, etc. following January 25
information meeting
B. Progress on Fishers Island Historic District application—Barbara Schnitzler
C Historic Preservation Commission Handbook- Barbara Schnitzler
D. New source and estimates for plaques—Mel Pfaff
E. MUST COMPLETE: Budget submission for FY2008 (Missed deadline of July
13). In conjunction with budget review, discuss FY2007 accomplishments, new
projects, i.e. awards program, lectures, speaker's bureau, road side markers, etc
