The May 2007 minutes were approved.
Chairman Grathwohl presented eight items of interest to the commission. The most disturbing was a recap fo the
Newsday feature on "That North Fork Look"(June 8th).Most illuminating was the information package from the
National Alliance of Preservation Commissions(www.uga.edu/napc/for a membership form).This organization's
membership package includes, vital information for anyone interested in preservation issues and the federal
statutes.
A discussion followed on Jim Grathwohl's draft letter to the owners of property who wish to be removed from
Historic Districts. Mr. Grathwohl suggested other members of the commission present aftematives to his letter.A
few commissioners felt that it was more prudent to inform those with an interest in"de-listing"that they cannot.
Field reports from Ron Rossi in re: Lloyd Kalin project(windows and siding)
Damon will suggest that the Kalins file for an "Administrative Permit"and supply samples of siding and window.
Barbara Schnitzler reported on a meeting with Claudia and Julian Ramone in regard to expected work at 130
Village Lane. Barbara feels that the Ramones are sympathitic to Landmarks Preservation and will be receptive to
our input and/or guidance.
New Business
1. Discussion of a project in Orient in re: Stein, 145 Skipper's Lane with architect Meryl Kramer(Greenport).
Comments on scale of garage expansion (see picture).
2. Discussion of 2750 Village Lane, Orient with architect B. Cicetta. Elevations of the proposed alterations were
shown. Comments focusing on the new front door were made (see photos).
The first three pictures show the project handled by B. Cicetta. The last two pictures show the Skipper's Lane
project.
A planned report to the commission by Supervisor Russell regarding Orient did not take place because of the
time it took to conduct business and a conflict with a Twon Board meeting.
The commission agreed with Barbara that much progress was made at this meeting.
Next meeting-July 17th at 3:00PM
