ZONING BOARD;$& Who/what are we: Salt Air Farm (SAF) is a working agricultural business that farms specifically for events. It is run by 11 thgeneration farmers and, as such, we are not new to either the community or, farming. So, while our business plan may sound improbable to some, the reality of our farming business is just the-same old thing. we plant, we grow, we harvest, we sell our product. We just choose to sell to folks that are dressed in tuxes and gowns. The cut flowers, ftaits, and vegetables (purnpk'ms in whites, greens, blues, pinks and champagne) that we grow are all produced for, and sold to, a very specialized market. The event market. Being on top of colors and trends is extremely important to being successU in this arena. while most of our sales are for events-in other locations around the North Fork, South Fork,NYC, Connecticut and RI we do host some events_each year on.our own farm.. These events have two purposes. First, they give us a 12-15 month heads up on in colors and trends that help irect our spring plantings each year. Second, they help finance the new the, rgaon systems that farming plantings, field lay-outs, and requires. All events tape place on land where development rights are intact. We offer 3 favor choices: (1) Onsite floral tussy mussies bunched for guests on the spot (Z) small packages of wildflower seeds or dahlia bulbs produced from our own fields (3) Honey favors produced in our farm apiary. If they choose honey we either produce and bottle it for them (another value added product) or the couple produces and bottles it themselves by participating in our 6 mos. long bee camp. participation in.bee camp provides couples with both beekeeping skills, and with honey that they produced themselves on-an East End farm. And, in the end, SAF gets another colony of bees to add to its apiary. As a multigenerational East End farming family4we have strong ties to both the community and the land.. We are very interested in protecting both. Since-the devil is usually in the details we are careful in the way we implement our business pian so as to protect our farm, our guests, and our neighbors. Cutchogue, New York 11935 Re : Special Event Permit Application Salt Air Farm (Wedding) 1000-109-7-10.5 Dear Ms. Heston; According to the procedures and standards of special event provision detailed in Chapter 205 of the Southold Town Code, a special event approval shall be determined after careful consideration of any or all impacts on adjacent property owners and the surrounding neighborhood. After reviewing your Special Event application for a wedding scheduled for June 23, 2018 the following deficiencies and issues need to be addressed before I can make a determination of approval or denial. 1. Since the attendance you listed (299) is very close to the 300 mark where a parking control plan is deemed necessary, you will need to provide one. 2. The amount of cars expected (150) does not match your paperwork. On page two of your application in bullet point # 5, you state that your parking field measures 50 feet wide by 600 feet long, allowing for 100 cars to park. In the Suffolk County Farmland Committee letter (a copy of it is attached), your Agricultural Development Permit dated April 3, 2017 states that the permeable parking area shall be 50 feet wide and 500 feet in length which yields parking for 83.3 cars in the designated area. Please clarify this discrepancy.
