Those in Attendance: Lynn Nyilas, Bob Duffin, Cindy Smith
Approval of Minutes: The minutes from June 2018 meeting were approved.
Discussion Items:
Summer Events:
Great attendance at our Outdoor Movie Nights. Working with the Village of Greenport was a
pleasure, and we hope to offer more events together in the future.
Very good turnout for both the Baseball clinic and Youth Bureau Night at the North Fork
Ospreys game.
Would like to add another Family Event for the Early Summer, Scavenger Hunt.
Youth Advisory Committee:
Was discussed that we are seeking a student representative from each school district to attend the
Board meetings.
Chamber Presentation Update:
The Youth Bureau was invited to speak at the Sept. meetings of both North Fork and Mattituck
Chambers. Went very well, and received some valuable feedback from business members in
attendance to share with our local schools. Members of the chambers were invited by Lynn
Nyilas to attend the School to Business Advisory Meetings to lend their voice to the discussion
on student employment as well as internships.
East End Youth Summit:
Student Leaders from our local schools are invited to attend a summit at Suffolk Community

College on Nov. 9, 2018 focusing on the topic of Youth Advocacy.
North Fork Mental Health Initiative:
Updates will be happening this fall. Two social workers were hired as part of the Phase 1 rollout
of the initiative.
Youth Court Updates:

New student volunteers will have a Saturday Intensive training at Town Hall on Oct. 13 from
9:00-2:00 p.m. Training will continue on Th. Evenings at Town Justice Court located in Town
Hall.
