We also received approval to demolish an existing house and wood deck. There is an existing tree which has been allowed to grow through a hole in the existing deck and now provides shade and ambiance to this area. The owner had always wanted to save this tree, but was also looking for a low maintenance stone patio which was to be constructed in the same footprint as the existing deck. When faced with the construction details for the stone patio which included a concrete slab and low stone walls, it has proved difficult to construct this patio without damaging the tree roots. Therefore, we would like to ask permission to amend the Trustee Permit to allow the construction of a replacement deck in the same footprint of the approved patio (685 sf). As the deck is supported on spaced piers it will not affect the root structure of the tree and will allow rainwater through to nourish the tree. Please review the attached site plan and let us know if you would consider this course of action. Thank you. V 1 y s, F DERICK R. WEBER,R.A.
