REASON FOR APPEAL
A Variance to Section 280A Subsection 3
A Variance to the Zoning Ordinance
is requeste~l, forthe rea~/99that applicant wishes to extend his office 16 feet resulting in an
insufficiency of~feet parking area. Applicant is planning to add two more rooms in
order to acco,~nndate two additional attorneys. The attached sketch shows applicant's
property, the present building with an interior square footage of 1620 feet and a pro-
posed sqlaare footage of 400 feet. The addition would merely include the lawn area in
the rear of the office and make no change in the parking area.
(Continue on other side)
REASON FOR APPEAL0 Continued
1. STRICT APPLICATIONOF THE ORDINANCE would prod~e pra~icaldiff~ultiesorunn~es-
sary HARDSHIPb~au~ the width of the lot is only 50 feet and applicant
cannot expand on either side of the present building. To add a second
story would incur a tremendous cost, even if possible structurally.
2. The hardship createdis UNIQUEand isnot shared by all properties alike inthe lmmedic~
vicini~/of this property and in this use distr~ct because said properties appear to be
self-sufficient and not in need of expansion.
3. The Variance wou~ob~e the ~irit ~ the O~inance ondWOULD NOT CHANGE THE
CHARACTER OFTHE DISTRICT because the parking area would remain the same.
Applicant's staff, however, do not use this area due to the municipal
parking lot adjacent to and North of the premises. The parking area on
the premises is reserved exclusively for clients and no inconvenience
is incurred.

Dear Howard:
In accordance With our telephone conversation on Friday
afternoon, I am enclosing a survey of my office property with
calculations on the present floor space of the office and the
intended addition.
The balance of the property is in parking space With the
exception of a row of pines along the north boundary. No staff
cars are kept in the parking space, it being reserved exclu-
sively for clients. The staff cars are parked in the municipal
parking lot next to the property.
I would appreciate your advice as to whether a variance
would be necessary or whether you can give a building permit
without it.
Very~~/~ uts,
William Wickham
