Dear Mr. Terry:
This is to advise you that Appeal No. 2160, made by Rev.
Brian Kopke for the Board of Trustees, First Universalist,
Southold, New York, is in error.
The Board finds that the applicant is holding a Yard
Sale, not a Flea Market, and, as such, needs only a
permit from the Building Department.
Yours truly,

Re: Application of the "First

Town of Southo1d (SD-76-11)
Dear Mr. Gi11ispe:
Pursuant to the requirements of Sections 1323 to 1332 of the Suffolk County
Charter, the Suffolk County Planning Commission on August 4, 1976 reviewed the
above captioned application and after due study and deliberation Resolved to
disapprove it because of the following:
1. Sufficient information has not been submitted to demonstrate compli-
ance with established "use variance" criteria; and
2. It would necessitate use of the adjoining state roadway for parking
purposes, adversely affecting the safety and traffic carrying capacity of said
facili ty .
Very truly yours,

Gentlemen;
Your letter of July 26 RE: First Universalist Church received.
Please be advised: The church did have a permit for a
yard sale; However there were also vans and station wagons selling
merchandise as well as the tables of donated items which were Church
related property.
I think there is a big gap in the Clergy's interpretation
of our ordinancees and the true intent of same.
In my opinion they exceeded the privilege granted by the
yard sale permit.
Yours truly
