Upon receipt of an application for a Pre -Existing Certificate
of Occupancy, I made an inspection of buildings on this property.
I was admitted to main dwelling by Roger J. Rath who accompanied
me during this inspection that began at approximately 9:30 A.M.
Main dwelling is of log construction. Foundation is rubble
stone and mortar and provides a full cellar. Building is a partial
two-story and one-story living unit consisting of the following
rooms: first floor contains a living room with fireplace, a den
with fireplace, and at north end a bedroom with fireplace, a full
bathroom and a half bathroom. Also a dining room with fireplace,
breakfast room with kitchen sink and dishwasher, a kitchen, laundry
room, three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Second floor has two bed-
rooms; each one has a fireplace and a full bathroom and walk-in
closet. A secondary stairway from bathroom of south bedroom leads
to dining room on first floor. Prime stairway to second floor from
living room leads to balcony. At north end of balcony there is a
fireplace with sitting area. Heat is furnished to all rooms from
three gas fired hot water furnaces located in cellar.
Caretakers cottage is of log construction and contains three
bedrooms, kitchen with fireplace, full bathroom, and living room.
Heat is furnished to all rooms from an oil fired steam heat furnace
located in full cellar of building's rubble stone and masonry
foundation.
Accessory structures include a four -car garage and a storage
building on south end of premises. Garage is of log construction
with one section of wood frame construction. Storage building is
of wood frame construction. An in -ground swimming pool is at north
end of property.
The following violations of the Housing Code, Chapter 52,
Town of Southold, New York, were found:
MAIN DWELLING
Entries - (does not include west entry to kitchen) no means
of controlling light in room at point of entry, Article V.
Section 52-56 B 2.
Stairways - prime and secondary, no light for safe ascent
and descent, Article II, Section 52-26 B 3.

Electrical - 4 open junction boxes at north end of cellar,

Sewage System - three sewage pipes leading from foundation,
no house traps, Article V, Section 52-51 C 1.

The following violation of Chapter 100, Zoning, Town of
Southold, New York, was found:
in -ground swimming pool, fence enclosure, gate requires
self-closing hardware, Article III, Section 100-30 C 2(a).
Grounds and buildings in good order. Inspection completed
at approximately 10:20 A.M.

APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY
Instructions
A. This application must be filled in typewriter OR ink, and submitted in DUPLICATE to the Building
Inspector with the following; for new buildings or new use:
1. Final survey of property with accurate location of all buildings, property lines, streets, and
unusual natural or topographic features.
2. Final approval of Health Dept. of water supply and sewerage disposal—(S-9 form or equal).
3. Approval of electrical installation from Board of Fire Underwriters.
4. Commercial buildings, Industrial buildings, Multiple Residences and similar buildings and
installations, a certificate of Code compliance from the Architect or Engineer responsible for
the building.
5. Submit Planning Board approval of completed site plan requirements where applicable.
B. For existing buildings (prior to April 1957), Non -conforming uses, or buildings and "pre-existing"
land uses:
1. Accurate survey -of property showing all property lines, streets, buildings and unusual natural
or topographic features.
2. Sworn statement of owner or previous owner as to use, occupancy and condition of buildings.
3. Date of any housing code or safety inspection of buildings or premises, or other pertinent in-
formation required to prepare a certificate.
