STRICT APPLICATION OF THE ORDINANCE would pr~u~ pmcticaldifficulti~ orunn~es- sow HARDSHIP b~au~ the owners have had two residences. Having sold one of the residences, all of their furniture and belongings must now fit into one small dwelling. The furniture and belongings all have real and sentimental valu~ and the owners do not wish to part with them. It would be a hardship to be forced to sell or part with them, especially when the added square footage we are asking to add to their home is so small. 2. The hordshiPCreatedis UNIQUE andisn~ shored by all prope~ies alike in the immediate vicinity ofthisproperty and inthis use district b~ause the exist±nghouse occupies 2% more of: the lot area than the ordinance allows. Also, the house sits close to its existing side lot lines. Most other houses do not. 3. The Variance would observe the spirit of the Ordinance and WOULD NOT CHANGE THE CHARACTEE OF THE DISTRICT becau~ the proposed additional square footage of lot coverage is less than 1%, actually .91%. This small amount could not possibly change the district. In addition, the extension is on the water side of the house and away from the street, where it would not be seen. I believe granting this variance would observe the sprit of the ordinance in not inflicting a forceable separation of the owners and their belongings, which would be necessary if they were not granted the variance.
