Dear Mr. Neilson:
Confirming our conversation this date, some of the applications
you recently referred to this office for wetland permits as
"grandfathered" structures are presently beyond the
jurisdiction of the Southold Town Trustees under the Town
wetland ordinance. Generally, the only tidal wetland areas
considered jursidictional on Fishers Island are those of West
and Hay Harbors. All open sound areas and
unprotected/non-vegetated coves are considered
non-jurisdictional. Shortly, when the "Sound" areas are
returned to the wetlands ordinance and we implement the recently
approved Town Coastal Erosion Hazard Act the owners may wish to
grandfather their structures.
In Summary:
Christophe~ Roosevelt- Non-jurisdiction on "Sound"
Lucille Balcom - Non-jurisdiction on "Sound"
Fishers Island Ferry District - Non-jurisdiction as greater

The $100.00 fees received for the Balcom and Roosevelt
applications will cover the field inspection for all three
applications.

information is a copy of the Town Wetland Ordinance, Chapter 97.

Dock Reconstruction Permit

reconstruction of an existing fixed wood dock,damaged by Hurricane "BOB", at
the h~ne of Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Roosevelt on Fishers Island. We enclose
