The meeting was called to order at 10:00.
Members Present: Marjorie Day, Susan Dingle, Leroy Heyliger, Je �t ��T ins�tlopLr

Members Excused: Loretta Hatzel-Geraci, Eleanor Lingo, Carolyn Peabody
Guests: Joan Hughes, Madeline Papas
April 16 Minutes were approved with the following corrections:
1. Susan Dingle (not Lingo)
2. P. 2 New Business, section b. Amended to read "DASA training is available"
Old Business and Committee Reports
Synergy Greenport Event Follow-up. Scheduling conflict with Town Board meeting led to
poor attendance. Thank you letters to: Jim Banks, Chief Flatley, St. Agnes School.
Discussion about scheduling signature events: committee meetings before arranging dates
to engage community groups and schools. Need for checklist for events and timeline to
anticipate planning needs.
Unity Picnic: need to engage clergy and reach out to community. Susan will draft "save the
date" letter based on letter Sonia has. Volunteers to go to churches and make personal
invitation: Sonia, Susan and Marjorie volunteered. Need to be clear about the purpose of
the picnic: to Celebrate Diversity & Unity through Fellowship. Outreach to all communities
and groups including Lions and Rotary.
Reports:
a. Police Department—discussion of incident in HS, which has been resolved. "if you
see something, say something"—go to Police, don't post online. Social media can make it
worse. Discussion of cyberbullying, need to co-ordinate mental health with schools, police,
town and youth bureau.
b. Schools: Oysterponds-- no report
Greenport-- budget approved
Southold—finalizing budget, more social workers. Robotics
team participated in world competition
New Suffolk—no report
Mattituck—introduced new Board member
New Business:
a. Positive ticketing—Introduced by Prof Banks to develop positive relationship
between youth and police. Discussion of possible downside to giving reward for good
behavior. Need to address unconscious bias.
b. The call to report discrimination at a health practice has gone to a legal solution.
c. Other New Business:
Support Shelter Island in having ABTF,
discussion of unifying the ABTFs of Southold, Southampton and
Riverhead.

Friends of Mitchell Park are presenting program about the Amistad,
Tall Ship to be visiting Greenport.
