At that time the original structure of the jetty was reconstructed and in effect DOUBLED in size without a permit(an additional row of sheathing --not the wales-- was added to the existing sheathing to essentially double its width). It is my understanding that the law states that the size of a jetty may not be expanded without a permit. Please consider this when you are reviewing the damaged extension. If it continues to exist in this extended, high profile manner it will perpetuate this already egregious situation - which I believe does not permit the normal flow of sand southward, scouring the beaches and making bulkheads and steps much more vulnerable in storms. I will be attending your work session along.with some other neighbors to the south. I am always available to you to answer any questions. Thank you for considering this matter, Vince Manago. Unfortunately, replacing a structure does not fall under either an emergency permit or an amendment to an existing permit. Please be advised that you will need permits from the Town's Board of Trustees, N.Y.S. Dept. of Environmental Conservation, and U.S. Army Corps. of Engineers. I am glad to hear you have already started conversations with a permit expeditor, they should know the requirements of what will be needed and ultimately get you all of your necessary permits in order to replace the jetty. Unfortunately it is recommended that you get an updated survey for the applications as this one is a good 5 years old that I have attached for your reference. You can call the same surveyor, they will still have the property information on record and-can update the survey in lieu of having a ditterent surveyor create a new survey for you. I also am speaking with a permit expeditor since I do not think the contractors want to do that type of work and I am not completely confident that I will be able to do it either. He had asked me for a recent survey, which unfortunately I have searched high and low and cannot find. Is it possible that there is a survey filed with the town? If not I guess we can try to see who did the last one or we could re-do the survey. Also, I was thinking that the Trustees may want us to do a new survey anyway.
