Mr. Martens,
Mr. King was in today and asked that I inform you of how to apply for the projects you wish to do on your property. With regards to
planting, trimming and/or removing vegetation/stumps within the Non-Disturbance buffer area or any area within 100'of the edge
of wetlands, you should apply for an Administrative Permit. With regards to the docking facility on the property, you should apply
for an Administrative Amendment to Wetland Permit#5932 for the modifications done/requesting to do in order to comply with
§275 of the Southold Town Code
You can print the Administrative Permit application from the Town website, under forms;Trustees,Administrative Permit
Application, or I can mail a hard copy to you The Amendment request for the dock will require different forms to which I will have
to send to you I first need to know the project description in order to know what paperwork you will need.
Please be advised that each project will require project/site plans of proposed&existing that is to be submitted with each
application
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions

Dear Mr. Martens
I was asked to respond to your email to Asst.Town Attorney, Lori Hulse.
With regards to your request to replace the existing float piles with longer 36' piles, per Trustees John Bredemeyer and Jim King this
is considered ordinary maintenance and repairs to a permitted structure with the restriction that it is to be an in-place
repair/replacement. Please try to refrain from increasing the diameter of the new float piles, try to be consistent with the pile
diameter you currently have.
With regards to your question concerning the tree stumps,Trustee Jim King is requesting you contact him to discuss this further as
he has some questions and may possibly perform a site visit to see the property to help determine if an Administrative Permit is
required. He asked that you contact him at 298-4718 to discuss this further.
Sincerely,

Dear Ms Hulse,
This weekend I was approached by our neighbour, Ed Hanus, the owner of the right-of-way south of our property who has
the dock with the 3 or 4 floating docks (don't know exactly) measuring 60' or 80' ??
Anyway, to my surprise, he said that he was going to have 35' pilings installed on his dock in the coming weeks. He had
noticed that one of our pilings of our dock became dislodged during the storm (photo attached below). Therefore, he
suggested that I contact his dock builder to obtain a price quote to have our pilings upgraded to 35 ft as well. He explained
that because of the way both of our docks are situated when a hurricane, northeaster or even a plain storm moves in, our
docks would not hold He further said that our boat would become beached causing enormous damage to it. He
suggested that the cost for our pilings would be reasonable since his dock builder would have his"pontoon with crane"
already in front of our property to install his dock pilings
Later that day, I spoke with Brian who takes care of our boat. He said that upgrading to the 35' pilings would be a great
improvement and make our dock much more secure We would no longer have to worry about our boat being damaged
during a regular"rain storm"as we experienced last week. So therefore, we're inclined to make this change
My questions.
-do we need a permit to change our pilings to 35' or is this considered an administrative change ?
-does our neighbour who currently keeps his dock moored with metal pipes need a permit for this upgrade ?
I would also like to inform you that all thorny briars that were cut by the workers and the debris of the last two hurricanes
has been removed from our property. Bay constable Kerencic stopped by Sunday to check on property as workers were
removing debris and he verified all was OK. There are still some large tree stumps and a very large root but he ,
suggested we get approval to remove those and best to leave as is for now(not to mention how costly it would be to cut
such a large stump)
This past weekend I took some pictures of the proposed maintenance area and will start filling in the application for the
maintenance permit.
Thank you,
Geert Martens

Dear Ms. Hulse,
In order to keep you fully informed, please find herewith a picture of our dock taken during yesterday's rain storm.
We noticed what was happening already on Tue evening Our boat guy was really concerned that the piling would come
out completely The best he could do was to throw two more anchors of the stern of the boat. This kept the boat from
being pushed into shallow water. Luckily this worked, the boat stayed put and there was no damage to our boat.
Sincerely,
Geert Martens
