MEETING MINUTES #128
September 28, 2017
Present:
Rona Smith, Michael Herbert, Councilman Jim Dinizio, Pat Lutsky, Deborah O’Kane
and Denis Noncarrow.
Meeting called to order at 4:30 p.m.
The August meeting minutes were approved.
I. The Promotional Housing Video was discussed.
Goal is to create a positive image for affordable housing.
One concern was getting as wide an airing as possible.
Copies of the DVD were distributed and commission members were asked to
provide these to community organizations and individuals.
Pat will see if it can be viewed at Peconic Landing. Jim will see if it can be
linked to Southold’s website. Pat asked if there can be a YouTube of it.
II. Farmworker Housing.
Discussion ensued as to whether farmworker housing code could be applied to
some seasonal employees.
Jim said to look over the code and the State codes. Jim spoke of Hellenic’s
problem that he could get people to work the months he wants to be opened but
didn’t have the Temp housing needed.
Pat asked if the code could be expanded.
Group decided to look at all code to see what can be tweaked to meet the
Town’s housing needs.
Rona asked if everyone could do some homework on the farmworker code.
Meeting was adjourned at 5:10pm.
