Resolution#5.16.17.1—Passed: Unanimous • A resolution was brought forth on a motion by Commissioner Harper, with a second by Commissioner Webb which read the following: • "When an application for proposed additions and alterations to a Town of Southold designated landmark is submitted to the building department, the Chair or Vice Chair of the Southold Historic Preservation Commission shall be notified as to the location of the property, the proposed work, access to the plans, and a copy of the SPLIA file." Pre-Submission Conference (continued from previous meeting) • John Bassett for Matthew Aselton/Sara Lamm, 1045 Orchard Street, Orient (SCTM# 1000-25-2-20.22). Proposed additions and alterations to an existing single family dwelling and conversion of an accessory building to a pool house on a landmarked property. o Mr. Bassett gave a brief overview of the changes made to the proposed project following the commission's recommendations. o He noted that the applicant was now proposing substantial chimney work after discovering serious damage to its integrity. Mr. Bassett agreed to bring brick and mortar samples to his next meeting with the commission. o Mr. Bassett told commissioners that the accessory building currently has a standing seam metal roof and the applicant was considering a pressed metal or cedar roof. Cedar was found under the existing roof material. Commissioners agreed that either one would be appropriate. o Commissioner Feiler asked about the accessory building's foundation. Mr. Bassett said that they were putting in a proper foundation. Commissioners asked to see a profile of the foundation. o Mr. Bassett agreed to return to the commission in June to continue the discussion ahead of a July public hearing. Public Hearinp_ • Edwin Constant, 200 Village Lane, Orient(SCTM# 1000-18.-5-7)alterations (window replacement)to an existing single family dwelling on a landmarked property. o Mr. Constant explained that the application he submitted was to replace eight windows in his historic home and he noted that Home Depot would be doing the work. o Commissioners were concerned with the way the windows were bring installed (with a vinyl covering over the existing frame) and asked Mr. Constant to consider removing the existing wood frame and replacing the trim to match with PVC instead. The applicant agreed. Resolution#5.16.17.2—Passed: Unanimous • Resolution#5.16.17.2, alterations (window replacement)to an existing single family dwelling at 200 Village Lane, Orient (SCTM# 1000-18.-5-7). (A full copy of the resolution is on file in the Southold Town Building department). Mover: (Webb/Parker) Public Hearinst (Held over from pervious meeting) • ASV LLC, 640 Skippers Lane, Orient(SCTM# 1000-24.4-10). Proposed alteration (chimney addition) to an existing single family dwelling on a landmarked property. o The public hearing was resumed by Chairman Garretson. o Mark Kafaga presented new drawings based on commission suggestions and also brought in samples of"Type N" mortar and D-155 brick, which Mr. Kafaga says most closely matches the old "Nassau brick". o In addition, Mr. Kafaga said that the applicant would also be replacing an existing chimney to match the new one and was also proposing to replace the existing asphalt roof with a cedar roof. Resolution#5.16.17.3—Passed: Unanimous • Resolution#5.16.17.3, alteration(chimney addition) to an existing single family dwelling at 640 Skipper's Lane, Orient (SCTM# 1000-24.-1-10). (A full copy of the resolution is on file in the Southold Town Building department). Mover: (Parker/Feiler) Old Business • Commissioner Webb asked about the status of correcting the Orient Historic District. It was reported that the town supervisor's office and John Sep from the town clerk's office were continuing efforts to correct the situation. • Commissioner Webb asked about the status of the 2017 goals list that he and Commissioner Harper had created and it was determined that the commission was now focused on Chairman Garretson's most recent list of tasks handed out during the work session. • Commissioner Surchin asked about the status of the "awards" and Chairman Garretson explained that he was continuing to work with Michelle in the Supervisor's office to coordinate the effort. New Business • Commissioner Feiler presented the commissioners with a"checklist"to be used for review of applications. Chairman Garretson asked that commissioners review the list ahead of the next meeting and make comments at that time. • Commissioners asked Damon Rallis to get them a copy of the 2017 budget to date. Meeting Adiourned • The meeting was adjourned unanimously on a motion by Commissioner Webb and a second by Commissioner Surchin.
