Chairman’s Comments  Chairman Garretson gave an update on the Orient Historic District. He said that he would schedule a meeting with Supervisor Russell for direction on the next “steps”, which will include presenting the issue to the town board and then communicating the issue to the public.  Chairman Garretson gave an update on the brochure project, noting that Commissioner Surchin was out of town, but progress had been made on securing the photos, from Commissioner Grathwohl, that will be used in the brochure.  He also noted that Commissioner Grathwohl has agreed to rewrite the outdated cover letter that accompanies all HPC applications. Pre-submission Conference  Meryl Kramer, Architect, for Heath, 435 Skippers Lane, Orient (SCTM# 1000-24.-2-3) additions/alterations to an existing single family dwelling on a landmarked property. Chris, from Meryl Kramer’s office, presented the commission with preliminary plans. o Commissioner Parker asked the applicant to consider a wooden basement entry instead of o the metal Bilco shown on the plans. The applicant asked which windows should be used and commissioners said that it was o expected that the new windows match the existing. Continued Pre-submission Conference  John Bassett for Matthew Aselton/Sara Lamm, 1045 Orchard Street, Orient (SCTM# 1000-25-2-20.22). Proposed additions and alterations to an existing single family dwelling and conversion of an accessory building to a pool house on a landmarked property. Mr. Bassett explained that the chimney would have to be fully reconstructed. o He discussed samples of brick and mortar to be used in the construction. o He presented commissioners with a corbel design. o Answering previous questions regarding the barn foundation, he explained that o they were going to keep it “raw” and “simple”, as it is not visible. Commissioners agreed that the project should go to public hearing at the next o meeting of July 18. Old Business  There was continued discussion regarding “awards” and Commissioner Grathwohl and Chairman Garretson agreed to continue working on the awards project.  Commissioner Parker explained that the East Marion Historic District project was continuing to move forward.  Commissioners continued the discussion of Commissioner Feiler’s proposed Application Checklist and agreed to give it continued review and discuss it at the next meeting. Meeting Adjourned  The meeting was adjourned unanimously on a motion by Chairman Garretson and a second by Commissioner Parker.
