YOUNG, ARC141TECT December 8, 2017 Southold Building Department 54375 Route 25 - Southold NY 11971 Re: Permit Request 0 Re: James P. & Jo-Anne M Thompson Residence �� Crescent Avenue, Fishers Island District 1000, Section 6, Block 7 Lot 4 BUILDING DEPS Attn: Chief Michael Verity Dear Mr. Verity, Please accept this two-part application on behalf of the aforementioned property, to grant a permit to: Repair the front porch and approve an "as built" entry to the kitchen. We are submitting two versions of the "as built", so that we are certain to be able to begin repairs on the Front Porch (identical in Applications A and B). The "as built" is different in the applications A and B. Application A: (Preferred by the owner.) Is to repair of the front porch and approval of an "as-built" addition an entry platform for direct access to the kitchen. Please take a look at A-5A. Using the average setback calculation method as per section 280-43(B), the porch appears to us as in conformance with the front yard setback. The drawing shows the average front yard within 300 feet on both sides is 30'-7". The owner's"as built" porch has a 47'-2" Front Yard. Additionally—this house was built at the turn of the century about 1900. We have evidence that a porch was original to the house. We can only imagine it has rotted away and been re-built many times. What we do see is: *A picture from the 1920's shows the Fort Wright soldiers marching past the house which it has a porch off the kitchen. *The entry door and frame are quite old - original to the house. Application B: Is for the repair of the front porch with what we hope is an approvable kitchen porch addition. The Thompsons love this little porch off the kitchen. They remain hopeful that you can approve it once your see the application containing the average front yard calculations. Thank you, Susan E. Yqun .
