Upon request of the Southold Town Building Department
I made an inspection of this one and one half story frame
building and found the following violations of Local Law ~1,
1967 Housing Code of the Town of Southold, beginning at
approximately 10:15 A.M.
Front Porch - loose springy flooring - Section 301-a.
Living Room - Section of ceiling loose over front
entrance area, opening in base board and cracks and
loose paper on walls - Section 303-c. Broken glass
in front windows - three lights - Section 102 and
302-b.
Kitchen - Broken pane of glass - Section 102 and 302-b.
Floors, Walls unclean; range, refrigerator, unclean;
kitchen sink, counter top cluttered and unclean, floor
cluttered with clothing, shoes, household items, piled
up in corners and against appliances, cooking utensils
lay about on floor containing food. Rear entrance,
alcove off kitchen, door blocked with miscellaneous
items, an electrical drop cord, litter box for animals,
food on floor - window has broken pane of glass -
Sections 102, 302-b, 217-a, 401.1 and .2, 502-a, 603-a,
605-a, 701-a, 703-2,3,4,5,6,7,8.
Bathroom - Flooring, worn and torn - Section 204-d and
303-d. Unkept and unclean - Section 701-a, 703-2,3.
Window, two lights, broken glass - Section 102 and 302-b.
Stairway to cellar - accessible from bathroom, door
opening is twenty-two inches and top five steps are
approximately twenty inches wide - Section 216-a.
Stairway to half story - top landing light switch, no
plate - Section 528-a. Top landing eighteen by thirty-
six inches - Section 216-a.
Hallway - large section of plaster off wall - Section
303-c; cluttered - Section 401-1, 2.

Four rooms being used as sleeping quarters maximum
ceiling height 7'0" (Violation Town Zoning Ordinance,
Article I, Section 101, definitions floor area livable)
Northwest room - loose outlet in wall - Section 528-a.
partial ceiling - roof rafters exposed - Section 303-c.
Northeast room - loose outlet in wall - Section 528-a.
openings in ceiling and broken wall board - Section 303-c.
Southwest room - window does not open - Section 208-c.
walls and ceiling deteriorating - Section 303-c.
Rooms upstairs - no screens on windows - Section 604-c.
In.general, each and every room in this dwelling is
unclean, unkept and cluttered with clothing, auto parts,
tools, household items, boxes, and has an odor of animals
and open garbage. Interior in general is badly in need of
repair and decorating - Section 301-a, 603-a, 605-a, 701-a, b.
703-2, 5, 6, 7, 8.
Rear Entrance to kitchen - roof boards overhang are
rotting - Section 301-a.
Yard - Overgrown, five automobiles' engines scattered
about in rear, one transmission, auto radio, radiator
base - Section 602-c, d, e; Section 701-a, 703-4.
Garage - No doors, no windows - roof open, deteriorating -
Section 603-b, 301-a, c.
Cellar - Wood doors off hinges - Section 604-b, 701-a.
dirt floor, flooded from kitchen drain line, no plug in
clean out - Section 505-a, 504-a, 502-a, b.
Floor beams under kitchen are rotting and deteriorating -
Section 301-a.
Due to flooded conditions of cellar and foul odor I was
unable to continue any further and terminated this inspection
at approximately 11:00 A.M.

APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY
Instructions
A. This application must be filled in typewriter OR ink, and submitted in triplicate to the Building
Inspector with the follcJwing; for new buildings or new use:
1. Final survey of property with accurate location of all buildings, property lines, streets, and
unusual natural or topographic features.
2. Final approval of Health Dept. of water supply and sewerage dispcsal--(S-9 form or equal).
3. Approval of electrical installation from Board of Fire Underwriters.
4. Commercial buildings, Industrial buildings, Multiple Residences and similar buildings and
installations, a certificate of Code compliance from the Architect or Engineer responsible for
the building,
5. Submit Planning Board approval of completed site plan requirements where applicable.
B. For existing buildings (prior to April 1957), Non-conforming uses, or buildings and "pre-existing"
land uses:
1. Accurate survey of property showing all property lines, streets, buildings and unusual natural
or topographic features.
2. Sworn statement of owner or previous owner as to use, occupancy and condition of buildings.
3. Date of any housing code or safety inspection of buildings or premises, or other pertinent in-
formation required to prepare a certificate.
C. Fees:
1. Certificate of occupancy $5.00
2. Certificate of occupancy on pre-existing dwelling or land use
3. Copy of certificate of occupancy $1.00
