The Trustees and the Town of Southold are very interested in the commencement of maintenance operations as soon as is possible. At the present time, navigation is seriously imperiled because of the reduction in channel depth and size. It is not uncommon for fishing vessels to run ~ground at low tide at the present time. In addition, the Town is working in cooperation with the State of New York Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation Office, to purchase the 'Carey Tank Farm. Part of this project involves 'aboat launching ramp at this site. For safety, access and ability to navigate, we would like thorough maintenance dredging in this area of the inlet. Very truly yours,.
