At that time, the building was framed and shingled. I was able to see some of the plate and rafter strapping and was given photographs of the other strapping (exterior wall, roof, ridge etc.) which I believe accurately represent the work. The structural framing changes substituting the main ridge post with (3)2x8's in lieu of (4)2x8's and revising the East window header to (2) 2x 10 (in lieu of microlams) do not diminish the structural integrity of the building and are acceptable to me. Based on these observations, I approve these revisions and believe that the strapping and is acceptable and in accordance with the Residential Code of New York State. The flat ceiling insulation will be changed to R38 and we have provided a revised REScheck form which coincides with the work to date and indicates the flat ceiling insulation will be revised from R-30 to R-38. The concealed openings were fireblocked and openings at cables, piping etc. were sealed with a fire caulking. In addition the shoe plates were sealed at the floor sheathing intersection and at the visible wall sheathing intersection with a silicone sealant.
