The purpose of the meeting is to obtain the Board's guidance regarding a proposal to stabilize an eroding embankment,potentially through the combined use of a low-sill bulkhead instaged along the low water line; establishment of new marsh plantings between the low-sill wall and the mean high water line; installation of stone armor placed along the toe of the eroding embankment slope; and placement of renourishment material and native buffer plantings landward of the stone armor. It is my understanding that during April and May 2016, the Board reviewed and voiced objections to a previous proposal by the applicant to construct a low-sill bulkhead; fill the intertidal zone with stone and plantings; and construct a bulkhead at or just landward of the mean high water line and effectively eliminate the naturally vegetated slope with fill material behind it. In anticipation of the Board's inspection, the likely location of the proposed low-sill bulkhead has been preliminarily staked.
