Monthly Report: April 2017
2017 SUMMER RECREATION PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES:
Programs currently being planned
for the summer season include the following:
Summer Concert Series Children’s Theatre
NY Mets vs LA Dodgers Bus Trip Equestrian & Pony Camp
NY Yankees vs Red Sox Bus Trip Youth Horse Riding Program
Classic Body Sculpting/Aerobics Swimming Lessons
Pilates, Yoga & Power Stretching Little Scholars Club
Tai Chi & Qi Gong Arts & Crafts for Youth
Weight Training: Adults & Teens Homemade Jam Making
Walk 15 Aerobics Canning Roasted Tomatoes
Hatha & Chair Yoga Plein Air Painting
Pickleball Mah Jongg
Golf Lessons Herbs for Health: Summer Herb Garden
Ballroom/Latin Dancing Intro to Watercolor
Tennis Lessons: Adult & Youth Smart Driver AARP
Dog Obedience CPR

2017 SUMMER SEASONAL STAFF:
Returning applications were mailed to all 2016 summer staff.
Employees interested in returning this year with limited availability will be re-interviewed. We have
received an abundance of new applicants for both beach attendants and lifeguards. The Recreation
Department has been in touch with local park districts to ensure all local area beaches have adequate

coverage. Interviews will be conducted during the week of May 15 and May 22.
SPRING 2017 RECREATION BROCHURE:
was an insert in the Thursday, March 2 edition of The
Suffolk Times. Registration for all programs and activities has been steady throughout the month of
April.
RECREATION CENTER FACILITY:
The new floor at the Recreation Department was installed.
While the project took longer than anticipated, all Recreation Department programs and outside
groups that use the facility were accommodated.
2017 BATHING BEACH OPERATING PERMIT RENEWAL APPLICATIONS:
The Suffolk County
Department of Health Services’ applications to renew our bathing beach permits were received. The
completed applications were returned to the county. The 2017 Bathing Beach Operating Permits
have been approved and will be posted at the beaches.
RECREATION DEPARTMENT DEPOSITS & EXPENDITURES:
Following are copies of our monthly
bank statement. Please note that any withdrawals on the bank statement are program refunds for
those participants who paid with a credit card.
