Meeting Minutes

February 15, 2017
Present:
Rona Smith, Denis Noncarrow, Debra O’Kane, Michael Herbert, Eric
Dantes, and William Dougherty.
*Committee member Councilman James Dinizio not in attendance.
Also present Heather Lanza, Head of Southold Town Planning Department.
Meeting began at 5:30 p.m.
January meeting minutes approved.
Guest speaker Heather Lanza began discussion to include these recommended
changes which were scheduled to the Town Board on behalf of the Housing
Advisory Commission:
1.Condominiums and co-operative housing should be included in
increased density legislation.
2.Discussed landlords choice to select tenants from the affordable
housing registry?
3.Suggestions to update the affordable housing district eligibility
requirements of priority groups as defined in town code.
a) Remove § 280-30. C(1) requiring income-eligible
individuals or families to be in the same school district at
least three years prior to the submission of their
application.
b) Habitable floor area of each affordable housing
apartment shall be at least 350 square feet.
c) Increase the percentage of a building in which there are
affordable housing apartments to occupy to 50% of the
principal building.
4. Discussion of the use of sanitary flow credits.
5.Potential alternative septic options possible for a site sewer
treatment plan for condominiums.
Next Meeting Scheduled for March 15th, 2017 @ 5:30 pm in the Town
Supervisors Conference Room.
