Regular Meeting Call to Order: 3:00 p.m. II. Approval of Minutes: January 17, 2017 – Motion to accept (Parker/Harper) III. Chairman’s Comments - Commissioner Garretson (Chair) discussedOrient Community Church Meeting and possible easements for the Church building and adjacent park. IV. Appointment:. 3:15 p.m Pre-submission conference: Doug Constant: 555 Village Lane Discussion of appropriate replacement windows (Anderson “A” Series 6 over 6), addition of a bay window off the south side kitchen, and the replacement of clapboard siding and trim with Hardie Board and Versatex respectively. V. Appointment: 3:30 p.m. accessory shed. The Pre-submission conference: Kevin Perry: Orient Post Office structure is a garage behind the Post Office building at 1000 Village Lane in Orient Village. The structure has sill damage due to the current underpinning. Mr. Perry discussed plans for lifting the structure and pouring a new concrete slab underneath. The possibility of adding eight inches to the overall height to the structure and moving the building further away from the plot line was also discussed. VI. Appointment: 4:00 p.m.  , Cutchogue John Feldmann : 525 New Suffolk RoadProposed amendment to Certificate of Appropriateness (shutters) Mr. Feldman asked the Commission to consider replacement of the shutters with a “board and batten” design. The Commissioners found that there was no historic precedent for this type of shutter. Mr. Feldman agreed to replace the shutters on the front of the house with the flat panel rail and stile design that was there before. Mr. Feldman was also told that the deteriorating fence along the front of the property was within the purview of the Commission and needed to be repaired to the condition and design extant when the house was first designated.  Note: The approved Certificate of Appropriateness reads, in part, that “the applicant has agreed to rehang the original street-facing shutters or replace them with a reasonable facsimile.” VII. Old Business  Commissioner Surchin discussed the moving of a structure within the Shinnecock Hills Artist Colony in order to save it from demolition.  Commissioner Surchin provided an overview of the process of historic preservation in Cuba based on her recent trip.  Commissioner Harper handed out a list of 12 different incentives for landmarking. These will be sent to all Commissioners for review and discussion at our next meeting. (attached to hard copy minutes)  Commissioner Harper brought in a sample of a metal roof shingle and a source for exact replacements. VIII. New Business  In-kind fences: It was determined that the concept of “in-kind” replacement needs to be clarified.
