RE: SCTM 953-5-12.2
Dear Mr. Kedjierski:
The following action was taken by the Southold Town Board of
Trustees on August 25r 1994:
RESOLVED that the Southold Town Board of Trustees grants an
amendment to permit ~4215 to replace the existing 44' X 10'
solid filled pier with a 44' X 6' open filing pier and a 40' X
5' floating dock, remove all remaining existing concrete from
the property and replace with the ground level timber deck
connecting the house and pier, in same configuration and
dimensions as concrete patio, area on eastern side of the pier
is extremely steep with broken concrete rubble, and upon removal
of this rubble there will be an acute erosion problem and to
alleviate the situation it is proposed that approx. 40 s.f.f
of the top of the bank be cut back and approx. 30 s.f. of
lower bank be filled with 3 c.y.c of clean sand which will
result in less server slope (approx. 30 degrees) which will be
able to be planted with spartina alternaflora. Also to add a
set of stairs 2'10" X 13' leading from the upper deck to the
ground level and would come off a 4'6" X 3' platform at
northwestern corner of the deck. Located Sage Blvd., Greenport.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact
this office.

Re: Permit No. 4215, SCTM #53-5-12.2
Dear Gentlemen,
I wish to amend my project proposal. This mnendment is based on changes suggested by
NYSDEC Tidal Wetlands personnel as conditions to issuing a DEC permit.
1. Replace the exisfmg 44' x 10' solid filled pier with a 44' x 6' open piling pier and a 40' x
5' floating dock. 1 could not supply proof that the existing dock was in place prior to
1977 and therefore the maximum width of the fixed pier was reduced to 6' and the width
of the floating dock was reduced to 5'. The procedures for doing the work will remain the
same as in the original application. Please see the accompanying revised diagrams.
2. Do to a concern about runofffrom the concrete patio which slopes towards the water
it was suggested that all of the remaining existing concrete from the property be removed
and be replaced with a ground level timber deck connecting the house and the pier. The
deck Would be the same configuration and dimensions as the concrete patio. Please see
the accompanying revised diagrams for the dimensions. In additim~, the area immediately
on the eastern side of the pier is extremely steep (approximately 60 degrees) and stabilized
with broken concrete and rubble. Upon removal of the rubble there will be an acute
erosion problem and to a~leviate the situation it is proposed that approximately 40 sq. ft.
of the top of the bank be cut back and approximately 30 sq. ft. of lower bank be filled with
3 cu. yd. of clean sand. This will result in a less severe slope (approximately 30 degrees)
which will be able to be planted with spartina altemaflora. This modification will make the
ground contour in tiffs area even with the rest of the property and create an inter tidal
marsh area which can be successfully maintained with spartina.
3. I also wish to add to the application a set of stairs leading from the upper deck to the
ground level. These stairs would come offa 4'6" x 3'0" platform at the northwestern
corner of the deck and then descend along the western face of the house. They would not
infringe closer to the wetlands than any proposed structure and would provide a second
means of egress from the upstairs living area of the house in case of ftre. They would be
constructed over an area which is presently covered with concrete and therefor would not
disturb may natural vegetation. The area beneath the stairs would be planted with shrubs
and grass.
Thank you,
Dennis Kedjierski
