COUNCILMAN GHOSIO: NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN,pursuant to the provisions of
Chapter 170 (Landmark Preservation) of the Town Code, the Town Board of the Town of
Southold hereby sets Tuesday, November 22,2016 at 4:33 P.M., Southold Town Hall, 53095
Main Road, Southold,New York as the time and place for a public hearing to consider the
designation of the Terry house on the town's register of Historic Landmarks; the house is
located at 57020 Main Road, Southold,New York. The property owner, Karen Lund Rooney,
has requested and the Historic Preservation Commission has recommended the property for
inclusion on the town's register. The file is available for review during regular business hours by
contacting Damon Rallis at the Southold Town Building Department. If you have any questions,
please do not hesitate to contact Damon Rallis at the Southold Town Building Department (63 1)

I have an affidavit that this was noticed in the Suffolk Times as well as on the Town Clerk's
bulletin board and we do have a resolution from the Historic Preservation Commission that the
Town Board designates 57020 Main Road, the Terry House as an Historic Landmark for
addition to the Town's registry of Historic Landmarks.
SUPERVISOR RUSSELL: Would anyone like to address the Town Board on this public
hearing? The reason for the microphone is so that we can hear it when we transcribe the
minutes, otherwise the person who transcribes the minutes won't hear you.
KAREN LUND ROONEY: My name is Karen Lund Rooney, I am the owner of the Terry
House at 57020 Main Road. I would like to thank the Board and the Commission for advocating
for the designation of our home as a landmark. It was built in 1783 and we just thoroughly enjoy
it and my husband and I feel that we are the caretakers of a lovely home in Southold. So thank
you.

JAMIE GARRETSON: Jamie Garretson, Chairman of the Historic Preservation Commission.
The Terry house is a very special house, it really is one of Southold's earliest houses and it
provides a sense of place. And anybody that has driven by sees the fabulous job that Karen and
her husband have done with it and I think it is very significant that it becomes a landmark and
another feather in our cap. Thank you.

RESOLUTION: Make a recommendation to the town board of the Town of Southold to
designate 57020 Main Road(The Terry House)as a historic landmark for addition to
the town's"Registry of Historic Landmarks"per Chapter 170-5 of the town code of the Town of
Southold.
WHEREAS, On August 16,2016,Karen Lund Rooney made application to the Southold
Town Historic Preservation Commission for inclusion of her property at 57020
Main Road(The Terry House)to the town's"Registry of Historic Landmarks."
WHEREAS, Commissioners reviewed the application,visited the property,and found that it
meets the requirements for designation as set forth in Chapter 170-5 (A) of the
town code of the Town of Southold.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED,that the Southold Town Historic Preservation
Commission recommends that the town board of the Town of Southold designate 57020 Main
Road (The Terry House) as a historic landmark for addition to the town's"Registry of Historic
Landmarks"per Chapter 170-5 of the town code of the Town of Southold.
