COUNCILMAN GHOSIO: NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN,pursuant to the provisions of
Chapter 170 (Landmark Preservation) of the Town Code, Town Board of the Town of Southold
hereby sets Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 4:31 PM, Southold Town Hall, 53095 Main
Road, Southold,New York as the time and place for a public hearing to consider the
designation of the Race Rock Light Station on the town's register of Historic Landmarks .
The property owner,New London Maritime Society, has requested and the Historic Preservation
Commission has recommended the property for inclusion on the town's register. The file is
available for review during regular business hours by contacting Damon Rallis at the Southold
Town Building Department. If you have any questions,please do not hesitate to contact Damon
Rallis at Damon.Rallis@a town.southold.ny.us or the Southold Town Building Department (63 1)
765-1802.
That was dated November 1, 2016. I do have here an affidavit that this public hearing was
noticed on the Town Clerk's bulletin board as well as the Suffolk Times. And I do have a
resolution from the Historic Preservation Commission recommending that the Town Board
designate the Race Rock Light Station as a historic landmark. That is it.

JAMIE GARRETSON: Jamie Garretson, Chairman of the Historic Preservation Commission.
Hello everybody. I think that this is, the Race Rock Light House, which was built in 1878 is a
very significant historic maritime contribution to our landscape in Southold. I think that
everybody would agree that this is a real feather in our cap, to make it officially a landmark.
And I think you should be congratulated and my commissioners and the owners should be
congratulated. Thank you.

RESOLUTION: Make a recommendation to the town board of the Town of Southold to
designate The Race Rock Light Station as a historic landmark for addition to the town's"Registry
of Historic Landmarks"per Chapter 170-5 of the town code of the Town of
Southold.
WHEREAS, On October 11, 2016,The New London Maritime Society made application to
the Southold Town Historic Preservation-Commission for inclusion of its
property eight miles southeast of New London, CT,and 1/6 of a mile southwest
of Race Point on Fisher's Island,N, Latitude 41°14 '36.6 N, Longitude: 72°2'
49.2 `W,U.S.C.G.First District to the town's"Registry of Historic Landmarks."
WHEREAS, Commissioners reviewed the application,visited the property, and found that it
meets the requirements for designation as set forth in Chapter 170-5 (A)of the
town code of the Town of Southold.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED,that the Southold Town Historic Preservation
Commission recommends that the town board of the Town of Southold designate The Race Rock
Light Station as a historic landmark for addition to the town's"Registry of Historic Landmarks"
per Chapter 170-5 of the town code of the Town of Southold.
