Southold Town Board of Trustees
Southold, New York
Dear Alvah:
March 9, 1966
!
The Village of Greenport is involved in litigation with William
Claudio with respect to rights of the Village in the wharf property
az the foot of Main Street in the Village of Greenport. The Village
has retained Dominic T. Aurichio to represent them. Mr. Aurichio
has discussed various aspects of this matter with me and believes
that it might be of assistance to the Village if the Town Board and
the Town Trustees gave deeds to the Village conveying whatever
interests, if any, that the Town might have in the streets and road
ends within the Incorporated Village. This is somewhat similar
to the matter which the Trustees had with respect to the Town of
Riverhead. Although it is generally believed that when the Village
was incorporated, it took title to all of the streets within the Village,
there still remains a question as to whether or not this was accom-
plished, and therefore the necessity for these deeds.
I am enclosing herewith a photostatic copy of a letter from Mr.
Aurichio to me which will likewise explain the necessity of the deeds.
Will you please bring the matter before the Board, and if they have
no objection, have them execute the deeds and return the original
to me. The copy may be retained by the Board for its records. If
you have any questions concerning this matter, please communicate
with me.
Yours very truly,
ROBERT W. TASKER

Claudio vs. Village of
Greenport.
Dear Bob~
In line with our discussions pertaining to the above litigation~
I am enclosing herewith ~wo Quitclaim deeds which cover the rights
within the $oundaries of Greenporto One to be executed by the
Trustees of the Town of Southold and one by the town of Southold~
a municipal corpsration each deed running to the Trustees of the
Incorporated Village of Greenport.
I believe the village has acquired these rights from the
inception of its first incorporation~ however these deeds will
serve as a reassurance of the right~ title and interest of the
Village in and to the roads and waters within the village
boundaries and will b~r any possible d efense~ that~the Village
cannot p~operly maintain any claims in the referenced matter~
Very truly yours~
