Monthly Report: December 2016
WINTER 2017
Registration: Registration continues. Participants can register on-line through our portal, in person at the
Recreation Center or by mail.

Programs: Kicked off beginning January 3. Several programs are full already, however many interesting
programs for all ages are still available.
SPRING 2017: We are planning activities and program for the upcoming Spring 2017 session.

Brochure: Brochures will also be inserted into the Suffolk Times on Thursday, March 2 .

Registration: Registration begins Thursday, March 2
DECEMBER EVENTS:
Santa’s Mailbox: Santa’s mailbox was overflowing with letters from residents. Over 100 personalized replies
were sent to the children.

Visit Santa: Despite his busy schedule, Santa and his elf made a brief stop at Town Hall on December 10. Over
60 little boys and girls shared their Christmas wishes with the jolly ol’ man. The Recreation Department would
like to thank Bob and Michelle from the Assessor’s office for their holiday spirit.
UPCOMING EVENTS:
Lifeguard Certification Course: The Recreation Department is applying to become a Lifeguard Training Provider.
Peconic Landing has generously agreed to allow us to utilize their pool facilities and Peggy Tuttle is guiding us
through the American Red Cross LTP application process. This will allow us to bring this much needed
certification course to Southold Town at a lower cost to participants.
